My Current Loves: 22nd Edition

Welcome back to the Cats & Coffee My Current Loves series. This edition features four things that stand out in the last month for me: Aozita’s Colorful Plastic Mason Jar Lids, Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups, the Secrets of the Six Wives PBS miniseries with Lucy Worsley, and TeBella Earl Grey Lavender Loose Leaf Tea.

Check out my last edition of this series here, featuring Prickly Thistle’s little tartan pouch, Lulu Organics Hair Powder, Country Bathhouse Bath Bombs, and Obama’s latest memoir, A Promised Land.

Let’s dive right in:

Secrets of the Six Wives with Lucy Worsley

If you like historical fiction or historical dramas, a la The Spanish Princess and the like, you’re sure to love the Secrets of the Six Wives with Lucy Worsley. This 3-part series follows the lives — and deaths — of Henry VIII’s numerous (six) wives. It offers reenactments and insights into the women as individuals that are often overlooked.

Secrets of the Six Wives with Lucy Worsley does cost a bit extra aside from a BritBox or PBS Masterpiece Prime add-on (the full series was about $8). However, it is really well done and worth the money. I’ve had a BritBox subscription through Amazon Prime for a while now (thanks to This Farming Life, which I discussed here). I did some digging to see what else BritBox has to offer. In that process, I came across a number of great British history documentaries, including this series. If you’re so interested, I invite you to do the same!

P.S. If this is up your alley, you’re going to love Lucy Worsley’s Royal Myths and Secrets.

TeBella Earl Grey Lavender Loose Leaf Tea

This is a pretty food-heavy edition, but these are all the things I’ve been enjoying lately! Last but not least is a lovely lavender earl grey tea from TeBella. I’ve liked this tea for some time and recently re-stocked. This particular loose leaf earl grey is beautifully botanical, infused with organic lavender and jasmine. It can be steeped to your liking, either super strong or more mild, and it’s easy to get a couple steeps out of the leaves. You can order the tea online from the TeBella website here or pick it up in store at Tampa’s Oxford Exchange.

P.S. This is also where I got my cute teaspoon pictured above!

Aozita’s Colorful Plastic Mason Jar Lids

I’ve been using mason jars for years now, mostly for make-ahead iced coffee and tea. The metal lids for my jar collection had seen better days, so I decided to see if there were some good replacement options. Turns out, there are a ton of replacement lids, and I went with a colorful plastic set from Amazon. While I prefer to not use plastic in the kitchen when I can help it, I figured these would be far easier to keep clean so I gave them a shot.

Aozita’s Colorful Plastic Mason Jar Lids come in a set of 16, with 8 lids for small-mouth jars and 8 for wide-mouth jars. The whole set is just $10 and came with rubber gasket seals to go with each lid (I held on to these, but I haven’t needed them yet). They’re dishwasher safe, BPA free, and leakproof. Even without the rubber seals, I find they’re quite leakproof.

Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

One of the best things about being in Tampa is that we’re now near a Trader Joe’s again. This has re-enabled my snacking habits, particularly with their sweets. I picked up a bag of their dark chocolate peanut butter cups on a whim at the cash register the first time I stopped by after the move. Now they’re a necessity in the apartment. The perfect little sweet treat at the end of the day (or at 9 AM; time is a construct).
