This month, my reading was heavy on the historical fiction — just the way I like it! From mythological retellings of Medusa’s sad tale to sapphic Victorian vampires, the books I read in June really ran the gamut, timeline wise. This was a big month for me, reading wise, both in terms of pages read (thanks ACOTAR series) and DNFs logged. That is, there were two novels that I started by did not finish this month. It’s a first for this year, so I wasn’t sure how best to handle them. Besides those two, though, I have some great recommendations for you below, including one of my favorite books I’ve read this year: Morgan is my Name by Sophie Keetch!
This month was a bit of a mix when it came to book genres for me. Lots of twentieth century historical fiction, headed by Chanel Cleeton’s Cuba Saga series, and rounded out with Kate Quinn’s The Alice Network. Besides that, I’ve been favoring fantasy novels lately, kicking off the month with an ARC of A Crown of Ivy and Glass by Claire Legrand and closing it out with Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses. All in all, eight interesting novels from six inspiring female authors!
March has been a busy month, both for just daily life and my reading list. This month, I’ve taken on a few historical fiction authors who are totally new to me, including Stephanie Thornton and Michelle Moran. Lucky for us readers, both authors have a number of great novels available, covering some of the most fascinating time periods and individuals in history! This is my second monthly reading round up, and I’m excited to say my goal to read more this year has continued to hold steady. I’m trudging through the fifth Game of Thrones audiobook, which slowed down my reading the first half of the month, but I still got some great books in. I’m in a bit of a romantic comedy and mythological retelling kind of mood this month, as you can see with a few of my February reads here!
I’ve always been a reader, even if I fell out of the habit a bit during law school. Since 2022, I’ve been putting in extra effort to get back into reading for pleasure, and I am starting this year off strong! While I share specific book reviews on Cats & Coffee, I thought a monthly round up of everything I read would be a fun way to share even more great books with you, my fellow readers. This month, I’ve read some great historical fiction novels, including some time travel and sci-fi options!
