And wow…I can see why it’s so popular! Here, I’ll be sharing some information on the series’ characters and general plot, some thoughts I had on each book in the ACOTAR series, and, finally, some reader FAQ on Sarah J. Maas’ books!

Any reader will agree that displaying books is a hobby and interest in its own right. Accentuating a home library with bookcase decor is a fun way to show off one’s favorite genres or authors. From figurines to pictures, there are so many great pieces of literary-themed decor to add to a home library! Here, I’m sharing the best fantasy bookcase decor to accentuate your bookshelves, with great Etsy finds based on the Sarah J. Maas universe, Rebecca Yarros’ Empyrean series, and more:
February was a varied month for me when it comes to what I read. Starting out strong with the new Crescent City book and closing it out with a less-than-stellar ACOTAR audiobook production, the books in between spanned genres and interests. I didn’t finish one book, but it was so boring it’s not worth mentioning here. Overall, I would recommend all of the books listed below for your TBR!
In January of this year, Sarah J. Maas (SJM) released the third book in her Crescent City series, House of Flame and Shadow. Coming out about two years after the second volume in the series, House of Sky and Breath, this book picks up right where book two’s jaw-dropping cliffhanger left off. Here, I’m sharing my thoughts and review on the book, along with some insights I think are relevant to its reception online.
The Crescent City Series by Sarah J. Maas, in its simplest terms, is about a half-Fae-half-human heroine who seeks revenge for her best friend’s death. Really, though, the series is so much more than that. Set in a contemporary fantasy world, this series has all the markers of the Sarah J. Maas book universe with the inclusion of modern technology. With two books currently available and a third to be released in January 2024, the Crescent City books promise to be one of the most monumental series in the Sarah J. Maas universe.
It was naive of me to think compiling my list of the best books of 2023 would be easy! This list started as a top ten list, then a top ten standalone book list plus a list of series, and ultimately to 14 individual books and 11 series. When I say series, these range from huge multi-volume stories like Throne of Glass to a handful of two-volume duologies.
After a slow start, October turned out to be a busy and enjoyable reading month for me. I read or listened to eleven books, and was completely engrossed by my third Sarah J. Maas series, Crescent City, in the process. The first few books I read this month weren’t my favorites (pretty much the first half of the list below), but the second half was great! Basically, I learned that I shouldn’t necessarily pick a random title from the library app and expect to love it. Regardless, here are the books I read this October; I hope you find a few that pique your interest!
