Minted Custom Stationery Review: Wedding Thank You Cards & More

Creating Custom Stationery with Minted

As we began to get wedding gifts delivered to our house, I wanted to get some pretty wedding thank yous to send to show our gratitude to friends and family. After some online research, I decided to try out Minted, an online stationery shop specializing in personalized stationery, wedding invitations, and more. Here, I’m sharing my experience creating custom stationery for Bachelorette party thank yous and wedding thank you cards with Minted’s personalization options:

My Experience with Minted Stationery

First Impressions of Minted

Minted’s website is well designed and easy to use. I came to the website with the intention of making some custom wedding thank you cards, so I went immediately to the “wedding” tab. This was when I realized Minted offered so much more than just custom stationery; they also offer wedding favors, all kinds of printed materials for the big day, and even a library of design inspiration. I was struck by how clear the categories for all their products were, along with the subsections of themes and design inspiration.

The Stationery Customization Process

For my Minted order, I was looking for two types of thank you cards. First, I was looking for a fun option to send as thank yous to my friends for my Bachelorette Weekend trip. Second, I wanted to create some elegant wedding thank you cards to send as gifts from our registry arrive.

Bachelorette Thank You Cards

To start, I went to the Wedding Thank You Cards section of the Minted site. They have an option to filter for thank you cards specific to bachelorette parties, which I opted for first. As compared to the wedding thank yous, these customizable cards are a bit more whimsical and feminine.

From there, I filtered for cards with no photos. There are lots of great cards with photos, if you wanted to go that route, but I knew I wanted plain text and pattern. After filtering for no photos, I filtered by color to green — my favorite color and one of our wedding colors.

For my Bachelorette Weekend thank you cards, I opted for this fun Champagne Confetti design. Through the personalization process, I change the color of the “Thank You” on the front of the card to green (can’t have enough green!), and replaced the stand-in name with my own.

From there, since I knew exactly who I was sending these cards to, I filled out the address book to take advantage of the free recipient addressing that came with the cards and envelopes. The minimum order quantity was 10 cards, and since I only needed to address seven cards, this meant I received three blank envelopes. So, I’ll hang on to those three extra cards and envelopes for future thank you needs.

I received mock ups of the card and envelopes after submitting my order. Once I approved the mock ups, they went to print.

Wedding Thank You Cards

For the wedding thank yous, I generally repeated the steps described above, but used Minted’s Wedding Thank You Cards section. Compared to the Bachelorette cards, the wedding thank you notes catalog is definitely more formal, with a wide range of elegant letterpress options alongside a variety of scripts, prints, and styles.

Where I had an easy time narrowing down my Bachelorette Weekend thank you cards, the wedding thank yous took a lot longer to pick from. Ultimately, I went with the Wild Flora style cards, and requested a different green through the personalization process.

Wedding Thank You Cards

Minted sent me a mock up of the card with the color code I had requested, along with a second color option that they thought I might like. I decided to go with the color code I requested originally (though the other option they sent was pretty and definitely aligned with our wedding colors), and approved the design. From there, the cards went to print.

At the time of ordering, I had three known addresses for thank yous, so I added those to the address book and received three printed envelopes, with the remainder of the pack being blank for me to address as needed.

Customer Service and Support

Besides the design assistance with the wedding thank you cards’ color, I did have to call upon Minted’s customer service because of a mix up with one of the shipments. The first box of the wedding thank you cards was marked as delivered but never arrived, so I messaged Minted’s customer service for help. They immediately ordered a replacement of the cards and had them shipped out that same day. The replacement cards arrived in a matter of days (two or three days, if I remember correctly) and were perfect!

Quality of the Custom Stationery

Overall, I was really impressed with the quality of Minted’s custom stationery. The colors are vibrant and exactly as represented online. The quality of the stationery paper itself is great, without even opting for a specialty paper or letterpress option.

Furthermore, I was impressed with the speed of shipping. The estimated shipping date for both sets of cards I ordered was about a week and a half from when I ordered the cards. However, both sets of cards were printed and shipped within 36 hours of my order. Even adding in the delay of the replacement order, the cards arrived well ahead of the estimated arrival date. Perhaps this is because my orders were relatively small (just 30 cards total), but, either way, I was impressed and pleased with this surprise!

Cost of the Cards

Overall, Minted’s prices are fair, especially for the quality and customer service that they offer. However, they definitely are more expensive than some other online custom stationery options.

That being said, I was impressed with the range of prices that Minted offered; while you certainly could spend a few hundred dollars on a set of thank you cards (particularly possible with their gorgeous letterpress options like this one), they also have plenty of more affordable options that maintain their standard elegance and quality.

Comparing the quality of the Minted custom stationery cards I ordered with a set of cards I ordered from Zazzle, the Minted cards are definitely more consistent and higher quality. The printing of the Minted cards is even all over, and the edges are crisp. The Zazzle cards, on the other hand, do have some imperfections in the printing and cutting, but they were much lower cost (approximately 50 cards for $135, then discounted to $70 with a promo code, versus 20 wedding thank you cards for $62).

So, it’s a matter of weighing your costs and figuring out what you want to spend on. For something formal like a wedding thank you, I think the Minted cost is well worth it.

Final Thoughts on Minted Custom Stationery

Overall, I am so glad I came across Minted in my search for wedding thank you cards online. Both sets of cards that I ordered turned out beautifully and were well worth the money. Besides being happy with the cards, though, I am looking forward to using Minted’s other printing services for various ceremony and reception cards, like menus, welcome signs, and so on.

If you’re looking to create some beautiful custom stationery, whether it is wedding thank you cards or simply some lovely personalized cards to keep on hand, definitely give Minted a try!
