Inspiration for an Emerald Green Wedding
Setting a wedding color scheme is important when considering your vision for the day, and my particular color palette celebrates all things emerald green wedding! Here, I’m sharing the best parts of my rich jewel tone green wedding color scheme with my mood board aesthetic, green and gold details, and accent pieces that are perfect for the emerald green aesthetic.

Wedding Color Schemes: Green, Navy, and Gold
Picking Our Wedding Colors
For me and Brett, picking our wedding colors was pretty easy. Green is my favorite color, and blue is his. Together, these two colors make up one of my favorite tartan patterns: Black Watch Tartan. So, once we had the green and navy basis, we began to consider how to weave in (pun intended) the tartan as an accent. Beyond that, my engagement ring is green and gold, so gold seems a natural accent for our choices — plus, pairing green and gold is just such a classic color combination!

Color Names: Emerald vs. Forest vs. Evergreen
Navy is a more evocative color term than green, so it did take some time to narrow down just what type of green we were looking for. Initially, I had been saying forest green when describing the greens I wanted to incorporate, but the reality of forest green in terms of wedding decor and clothing fabrics is far more of an olive green than evergreen. So, I searched around on Pinterest a bit and determined that emerald was the most understood term for the green I was looking for.

Of our two main wedding colors, the green is the key player. One, because I’ve taken planning the event upon myself so I get to pick and, two, because of the amount of greenery that exists already in our venue. So, this post is focusing primarily on emerald green wedding ideas.

As with any rich jewel tone, there are so many layers and textures to be found with emerald as a wedding color. Whether you go with gossamer fabrics or luxurious velvets, rustic linens to polished glass. As with the tartan pictured above, there is a lot of character in the fabric or ribbons, which really pulls in the innate earthiness of emerald as a wedding color.
