A Good Zip-Up Hoodie is a Wardrobe Staple
Zip-up hoodies are great for the day-to-day – whether you are running errands, going to the movies, or just hanging out at home. I love to pair my favorite t-shirt and shorts with a nice hoodie and I’m good to go.
Currently, I’m in-between staple, go-to hoodies. I have a nice Lululemon zip-up hoodie, but it’s a little on the heavier and more structured side. For hanging out and running errands, I prefer something looser, lighter weight.
So, I’ve been on the lookout for a comfy and cute zip-up for some time. So far, here’s what I’ve found:
Super Soft Brushed French Terry Zip Hoodie from Splendid ($98)
Splendid has been a go-to for low key and flattering t-shirts and tank tops. Splendid describes the Super Soft Brushed French Terry Zip Hoodie as “giving a classic style an effortless upgrade” that “makes lounging at home look luxurious.”
Ok, yes please.
The boxy silhouette looks effortlessly chic. The hoodie comes in a few great colors, including a beautiful ruby color. I’d think I would go with the black, though, because it’d probably go with more.
James Perse’s Y/Osemite French Terry Hoodie ($325)
Ok, this hoodie is kind of a dream item, but on the more expensive side. This James Perse hoodie has some cool side detailing with zippers and a flattering silhouette on the back. It comes in black or heather gray, both of which seem like they would go with a lot. Overall, this James Perse option has a sporty and modern look to it, so if you’re looking for something simple but not so basic, this could be a good way to go.
The Colorblock Zip-Up Hoodie Sweatshirt from J.Crew (currently $55.99, normally $69.50)
This colorblock option is pretty unique looking. J.Crew always has great navies, and this zip-up hoodie is no exception. With a sporty silhouette and white blocks that are reminiscent of variety sport aesthetics, this hoodie would be great for quick runs to the grocery store or to a casual dinner. What’s more, this hoodie is only sold online, so it’s pretty unique. Oh, and machine washable! How great is that?
Lou & Grey’s Signaturesoft Plush Zip Hoodie ($79.50)
This Lou & Grey option has a sporty, boxy silhouette, with big front pockets. It’s pretty traditional and basic, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Like the James Perse option, this zip-up hoodie comes in a subtle grey and black. Lou & Grey has some great items, which makes me super interested in this hoodie. Plus, the fact that the website describes it as “buttery soft” and “bounchy with a plush finish” makes sounds just fantastic.
Frank & Eileen’s Side Zip Fleece Jacket ($295)
Like the James Perse option, this Frank & Eileen zip-up would definitely be a splurge item. However, I find the style really tempting. It has a unique silhouette modeled after “old-school motorcycle jackets” made with Frank & Eileen’s “coziest fleece.” I’m basically sold. This option is marketed as machine washable, which is great, and comes in 11 subtle colors, ranging from the classics – black and white – to a cranberry/maroon color called “Vamp” and British Royal Navy. I think I would have a hard time picking out just one color!
