Leggings with Pockets for Petite Women

The Best Petite Leggings with Pockets

Leggings are a core part of any wardrobe, whether you wear them to the gym, when running errands, or just around the house. For me, as a petite woman, it can be hard to find a pair that suit my height. It can be especially difficult when you add in my latest leggings requirement: side pockets. With iPhones getting bigger and bigger, tucking them into the waistband has begun to feel a bit too perilous, especially if you’re actually being active (or even just bending to reach something on a lower shelf in the grocery store). Whether you’re holding an eccentric push up, using the rower at CrossFit, or just living your life, good leggings with pockets will give you peace of mind. So, I wanted to share my top styles of leggings with pockets for petite women:

Top Leggings for Petite Women with Pockets

This post has been on my to-do list for some time. I have long been a fan of the Lululemon Wunder Under and Align pants, and I still have a number of pairs that don’t have side pockets that I wear often. They’re great leggings, so until Lululemon introduced both styles with pockets, they were the exception to my new must-have-pockets rule. So, you can imagine my excitement when they began making both with the coveted side pocket!

In my mind, Lululemon leggings are investment pieces — if you take care of them, you can wear them for years. Many of my non-pocketed pairs, for example, are from early college for me! So, bear that in mind when you begin looking at the prices. The same goes for other quality brands, like Athleta and Sweaty Betty, both of which have lots of great cropped or 7/8-length pocketed options.

Inseams & Lengths

With Lululemon leggings, I try to stick with inseam lengths below 25 inches. As a 5 foot tall woman, the 25 inch inseam styles are basically full-length for me. It’s handy that you can filter by the lengths on their website — they range from 19 inch inseams to 32 inch inseams.

Most other companies allow you to filter by petite/short sizes or by length: full length, cropped, or 7/8 length. Sweaty Betty, for example, follows the full, cropped, 7/8 lengths model. They note that for women under 5 foot 4 inches, 7/8 length is effectively “full length.” Of all the pairs of leggings featured here, the Sweaty Betty options are definitely the most fun leggings with pockets — so many cool colors and patterns!

For brands that don’t necessarily allow for filtering by lengths in this way, I would recommend going with cropped styles. Beyond Yoga is an example of a brand that doesn’t allow for such filtering; however, they do have a whole section dedicated to pocketed leggings, which is handy.

More Affordable Pocketed Leggings

If you’re looking for leggings with pockets but don’t want to pay the full Lululemon level price, there are a number of great options at Target to try. These 7/8 length high waist leggings are pretty similar looking to a few Lululemon styles, and are available for around $30.

Similarly, I am pleased to see that Gymshark is now making leggings with side pockets. I love all of the colors that Gymshark uses, and I am a huge fan of their training sweat shorts, which I wear most days for working from home. However, I was always bummed that they didn’t seem to make leggings with pockets that often. The pocketed leggings are definitely still the minority of their styles, but the styles they do have come in some fun colors for about $50 (some are on further discount!).
