Home Library Room Inspiration

Inspiration for a Home Library Room

There is something just so soothing about a personal home library room. When we moved into our home, creating just such a space was very important to me, and I am continuously adding to my personal home library room. For me, this space is included as part of my office, although I have taken other pockets of the house for more bookish displays as well. Here, I’m sharing some of my favorite home library room inspiration photos, largely from fellow bookstagram accounts on Instagram that I love and highly recommend:

Accents for Your Home Library Room

Beautiful Library Room Spaces

First things first, when deciding on inspiration for the space, you should consider what space in your house or apartment you want to set aside for your personal home library room or reading space. However, regardless of the actual amount of space you can or want to set aside for a home library, each of these inspirational photos has details you can replicate in your own way.

For your convenience, I’ve split these inspiration photo groupings into sections by theme, color, or atmosphere. I, of course, am most drawn to the gorgeous green built-ins, as a lover of all things green. However, I also aspire to the bookish cohesion as highlighted by the last section below on “Highlighting the Books”, featuring two of my favorite bookstagram accounts: @bookobsessed_emily and @antipodeanbookclub.

Gorgeous Green Built Ins

As I said, I love green. My office and home library is green. There is something so refreshing and soothing about the color, so innately tied to nature and the earth. These two library room inspiration photos feature lighter green walls and bookshelves, but you can also opt for a darker green if you so chose (as I did with my office, which you can see here).

Dreamy Reading Nooks

While you may or may not be able to replicate a dreamy reading nook like the two pictured here exactly, I felt that the ideas behind each are achievable. Wherever you have some nice natural lighting, with a comfortable chair or couch, you can create a little reading nook of your own. I particularly like the storage solutions of the first image below, with the little shelf below the bench seat.

Serene Blue Home Libraries

Blue is, of course, a classic home color, channeling calming vibes through the very tone itself. Both of the blues pictured here are richer options, with a gray-ish base that ties in well with different metals and textures. Plus, who doesn’t dream about having a bookshelf ladder like in the first of the two below?

Light and Airy Reading Spaces

Create an oasis of a reading space by channeling these two library room photos. The first plays with textures and soft blue tones to make an interesting-yet-neutral atmosphere. The second embraces the natural light from the window while pulling in rich browns and golds, all of which highlight the colorful books on the clean white shelves.

Highlighting the Books

Regardless of which of the home library room inspirational styles above you prefer, there are many ways to highlight the books on the shelves themselves as works of art and character. Whether you go with different directional groupings, like @bookobsessed_emily chose in the first image below, or for a more classic lineup (like @thebookish_daydreamer above), you can intersperse the books with trinkets and mementos as you see fit. Further, if you have exceptionally beautiful editions of your favorites, as with @antipodeanbookclub below, why not use those as art, in themselves, to add to your space?

Building Your Own Cozy Home Library Room

Cozy Home Library Office

Having a cozy home library space has always been a goal of mine. As I mentioned before, with our new house, my office has become my personal at home library, full of cozy colors and keepsake details. I’m always looking for more ways to decorate or organize the space, whether that’s with bookshelf decor, wall art, or so on.
