All About Miami Beach Bum

As a pale Floridian with sensitive skin, I’m always looking for a good sunscreen that will protect my skin without irritating it. Luckily, Miami Beach Bum has some great sunscreen options for those of us dealing with sensitive skin. Featuring reef-safe and cruelty free formulas, this brand has developed some great, lightweight formulas that you’ll love to use year-round.

With a foundation in the marine sciences, this female-founded brand is passionate about sustainability and high quality skincare. From their sustainably sourced recycled packaging to their carbon neutral production process, I was so impressed with Miami Beach Bum’s commitment to the environment. And that was even before I tried their sunscreens!

Sunscreens I Tried from Miami Beach Bum

Miami Beach Bum’s Save Face SPF 30 Sunscreen

I go through facial sunscreens rather quickly, so I’m pleased to report that a little bit of the Miami Beach Bum Save Face SPF 30 Sunscreen goes a long way! This reef-safe facial sunscreen is a water and sweat resistant formula offering SPF 30 protection.

The Save Face Sunscreen’s ingredients include broccoli and brown algae, which help boost natural collagen production and skin cell renewal, as well as aloe and squalane (one of my favorites!), which hydrate restore the skin’s natural barrier. It also includes green tea and calendula antioxidants to help prevent hyperpigmentation.

While it is a mineral sunscreen, I have not noticed any white cast left over after application, and it blends with my makeup quite well. This particular formula is fragrance free and dries cleanly. It doesn’t leave the skin feeling greasy or damp at all. Overall, I found it to be a great option for daily use on the face and neck, as well as for outdoor activities.

Miami Beach Bum Blocked SPF 30 Body Sunscreen

Like the Save Face Sunscreen, the Miami Beach Bum Blocked SPF 30 Body Sunscreen is a reef-safe formula that offers sweat-and-water-proof SPF 30 protection for up to 40 minutes. A non-greasy and lightweight mineral sunscreen, I loved how moisturizing the formula felt without leaving my skin feeling slick. It also stayed put while sweating. The sunscreen dries cleanly without leaving a white sheen, too.

Formulated with the same broccoli, brown algae, green tea, and calendula as the Save Face Sunscreen, the Blocked Body Sunscreen also incorporates coconut and orange elements. Making the sunscreen lightly scented, the natural orange and coconut ingredients help reduce inflammation as well as cleanse and moisturize the skin. They also help to sooth any sun damage you may get from being outside all day.

Overall Thoughts on the Miami Beach Bum Sunscreens

Miami Beach Bum Sunscreens

I love a good science-backed skincare formula, and the Save Face and Blocked sunscreens both fit that bill (oh, and they’re pretty affordable, too!). The clean scents along with the non-greasy textures make them real winners for me and my sensitive skin.

The Blocked Body Sunscreen is so easy to apply to the hands and arms as you head out for the day, and the Save Face Sunscreen works well with all of the makeup I’ve worn lately.

If you’re looking to incorporate a new sun protection product into your beauty routine, I highly recommend this science-backed, woman-run company!
