What We Tried at Pacific Counter

Build Your Own Sushi Bowls

When I visited the new South Tampa location, my friend and I each built our own sushi bowls. These bowls come in two sizes and range from $9.99 to $14.99. There are so many combinations you can make with this option! For example, there are twelve protein options to choose from, over twenty mix-ins, and unlimited toppings.

For my bowl, I chose sushi rice with spicy tuna and spicy tofu for my proteins. Avocado is one of my favorites, so I had to have the guac. Beyond that, I opted for edamame, seaweed salad, Hawaiian salsa, and mango, all of which went really well together. I highly recommend the garlic crisps and pickled ginger as toppings, as they added some nice texture as well as flavor! I topped it all off with their chili aioli sauce, which had just enough heat for me.

Lauren’s bowl featured half brown and half sushi rice with spicy tofu and shrimp. Her toppings included the daikon salad (delicious!) and mushrooms, along with wonton crisps, furikake, pickled ginger, and their “counter sauce.” I’m not exactly sure what the counter sauce is, but it was really good. Kind of like a spicier sweet chili sauce!

Sides from Pacific Counter

Lauren and I each wound up getting lunch combos, which gave us a side and a drink along with our sushi bowls. I chose the cucumber salad, while Lauren picked up a spam musubi. The cucumber salad was a delightfully sweet and salty option, chilled and perfect for summer! As for drinks, Pacific Counter has a ton of Hawaiian Sun drinks, sodas, and kombuchas to choose from, along with some house made fresh juices. I highly recommend the pineapple ginger lemonade. They even offer refills!

Bubble Teas

Last but not least are the Pacific Counter bubble teas! Lauren and I each got one, and were both blown away by the flavors. I opted for a Thai Tea with the dairy-free milk tea and traditional boba bubbles. Lauren went with the taro flavor with lychee jellies. You can choose the level of sweetness for your bubble tea — either unsweetened, regular, or extra sweet. My unsweetened was perfect for me. Lauren opted for the regular sweetness, which was also a good level of sweetness for the taro and lychee flavors.
