A Cat Themed Czech Dark Lager from BarrieHaus
My fellow cat and beer lover friends will be pleased to know that BarrieHaus Beer Co. has released their annual Tivvy Tmavé Czech Dark Lager! This cat-themed lager is a favorite of mine for a couple reasons. First and foremost, the cat theme, obviously. Second, though, it’s just really really good beer. Now is the time to stop by the Ybor brewery and pick up a four-pack (or two) for yourself!

The Brewery Cat Inspiration Behind Tivvy Tmavé
I swear I didn’t know about Tivvy before I declared BarrieHaus to be my favorite of the Tampa breweries. Tivvy is the BarrieHaus Beer Co. brewery cat. A handsome orange and white tabby cat, Tivvy is the quintessential cat: he thinks he runs the place! And hey, maybe he does.
Either way, Tivvy is a great mascot for this light, drinkable Czech Dark Lager, and a great meowdel for this year’s can portrait!
Notes on the Tivvy Tmavé Czech Dark Lager
“This Czech Dark Lager is inspired by our favorite feline Trivoli, or Tivvy for short. This beer pours black and is a purr-fect blend of malt complexity boating flavors of baker’s chocolate, caramelized dates, and French roast coffee.”
With a 5.2% ABV and a dark color, you might expect the Tivvy Tmavé Czech Dark Lager to be a heavy, heartier beer. However, that is simply not the case. There are no shortage of great options for a lager from BarrieHaus Beer Co., but the Tivvy Tmavé Czech Dark Lager is one of the most drinkable dark lagers I’ve ever come across.
With a rich, nutty flavor, this BarrieHaus lager drinks almost like a light iced coffee stout. For anyone who enjoys a dark beer but also wants something refreshing in our mild Florida fall weather, this is the beer for you.
