Hill House Nap Dress Shopping in Palm Beach

Hill House Nap Dresses

Fashion built for all occasions, the Hill House Nap Dress styles are a staple of my closet. I am particularly fond of the Ellie Nap Dress, my original style from the brand which I’ve been wearing since late 2020. As the brand has expanded, though, I have enjoyed trying out new Nap Dress styles, especially when I got to see them in person at the Hill House Palm Beach store! Here’s what I’ll be covering in this article:

Nap Dress Shopping at Hill House Home in West Palm Beach

The Hill House Home Nap Dress

Essentially, the Nap Dress is designed to be a nightgown you can wear out and even dress up. Initially, the Nap Dress was limited to a few simpler designs, which were largely based on a traditional nightgown style. Beyond that silhouette, a Nap Dress can be distinguished by the smocking included.

My go-to style from Hill House is the Ellie Nap Dress, one of the earliest designs from the brand. They’ve tweaked the design a bit over the years (it now includes pockets!) and developed a mini version of the smocked dress (the Elizabeth).

Since the first iteration of the Hill House Nap Dress styles, though, the catalogue has grown immensely. Now, there are separates — skirts, shorts, and tops — along with a wider range of styles, ranging from the very casual to the date night dressy. They even have dresses now that are completely without their trademark smocking, like the Adeline mini dress here.

Where to Buy Hill House Nap Dresses

At first, Hill House dresses were only available online through the brand’s website. There, they coordinate drop events for new seasonal lines, and even had some specialty or collaboration releases which almost always sold out right away. In the past couple years, though, they have begun to open Hill House stores, first seasonally and then on a more permanent basis.

Visiting Hill House Home Palm Beach

I finally had an opportunity to visit the Hill House Palm Beach store earlier in June. The store was everything I had hoped it would be, a little microcosm of the Nap Dresses and feminine styles I know and love.

While I have definitely bought two sizes from the brand’s website in the past and returned whichever did not fit, it was really nice to be able to see the newer styles and compare sizes in person. The women who worked at the store were really knowledgable and honest about discrepancies in the brand’s sizing.

Hill House’s Nap Dress sizing can be a bit of a mixed bag, especially with the newer, more structured styles they’ve been offering lately. For example, in this post, I was wearing an XL in the Daphne dress, while I am a small in the Ellie and a medium in the Elizabeth (the short version of the Ellie). With a few of the newer pieces with different silhouettes from the Ellie, I would tell them “my Ellie size” and then they would recommend a size for whichever piece I asked for.

What I Bought from the Hill House Store in Palm Beach

While I tried on about five pieces, I ultimately purchased two styles from the Hill House Palm Beach store. That day, I went home with the Delphine Nap Skirt in Nigh Bloom Cotton (size medium) and the Juliana Dress in Blue Shell Mosaic Cotton (size XL, my same size for the Daphne). The skirt looks great with a simple black top or tank top, and the dress is so flattering and comfortable at the same time!
