Tampa’s Own Kahwa Coffee Roasters
With 14 coffee shops around the Tampa and St. Petersburg area, Kahwa Coffee Roasters is a big name in local coffee. Started in 2006 by Sarah and Raphael Perrier, Kahwa Coffee is the largest independent coffee roaster in the state of Florida, brewing 100% Arabica beans that are roasted on demand for quality and freshness. Of the Tampa coffee shops, Kahwa is one of my newer finds, but it has quickly become one of my top favorites!
About Kahwa’s Coffee & Cafe Vibes
Brewing a mild but flavorful 100% Arabica bean coffee, Kahwa’s cafes are comfortable meeting places with great snacks. With a robust menu of all the classic drinks, Kahwa Coffee also regularly offer seasonal or special edition drinks. For example, for St. Patrick’s Day, they had a pistachio latte that was equal parts festive and delicious. Then, when Taylor Swift came to Tampa for her Eras Tour, Kahwa teamed up with CASA of Pinellas to raise money for survivors of domestic violence. For this initiative, they had two themed drinks available, including a delicious lavender matcha (called Lavender Haze, of course) that I order on the regular now.
If Kahwa’s enticing menu wasn’t enough, they also offer order ahead options, and drive-thru stores, to make getting your coffee fix even simpler! Kahwa’s new app makes it really easy to order ahead and earn points for purchases, which quickly turn into rewards like free drinks and extra discounts. You can add a credit card to pay directly with the app, or just use it to earn points with each visit.
My Favorite Drinks at Kahwa
I enjoyed their iced cappuccino on my first visit, and their dirty chai more recently. With great seasonal drink options, there’s plenty to choose from, from the traditional to the eclectic. As I mentioned above, the lavender matcha iced latte is a new favorite of mine — delicately sweet and earthy, the perfect warm weather treat!
Besides that, though, my default is their iced dirty chai. It’s the best of both worlds, really, with the spice of the chai and Kahwa’s delicious espresso. I’ve had it both hot and cold, and both are good, though I’m partial to iced as I am with all coffee drinks.
