Bows, especially outside of the holiday season, can easily seem childish or infantilizing on adult women. However, there are plenty of non-childish options available that are a good balance of feminine and, dare I say, even a bit nuanced.
If you’re concerned about a bow leaning a little too far into what Pinterest calls the coquette aesthetic, then try a hair bow that is thinner and more minimal in its design. Opting for a darker color, like my dark green bow above, also helps move away from the ultra-girly. I was afraid of looking tacky by wearing a bow as a full grown woman and I was searching for options that looked elegant and more understated than the bows we put in our children’s hair.
