The Best Restaurants to Try in Tampa’s Hyde Park Village

When thinking of where to eat in Tampa Bay, you cannot overlook the restaurants in Hyde Park Village. One of my favorite spots to spend a day, Hyde Park Village has everything a local or visitor to Tampa needs: great restaurants, quality shopping, and easy parking! Covering six city blocks, Hyde Park Village hosts farmer’s markets, art fairs, and seasonal community events throughout the year, besides being home to a multitude of great restaurants. Here, I’m sharing the top Tampa restaurants you can find in Hyde Park Village:

Top Tampa Restaurants in Hyde Park

Forbici Modern Italian

Brett and I stopped in at Forbici in Hyde Park Village on a whim. It was such a lucky find! The atmosphere and menu were both enticing, and the pizzas we got were absolutely delicious. Plus, they have a great patio making them one of the best Tampa restaurants with outdoor seating in my book.

From appetizers to pastas, bowls to pizzas, Forbici Modern Italian has something for everyone, including a wide range of Impossible Meat! We split the Impossible Meat Meatballs as an appetizer and they were the perfect size to share. The house-made pomodoro sauce was so rich and delicious, a truly authentic flavor!

As for the pizzas, Brett and I definitely could have split one, but it was nice to have leftovers, too. Forbici offers both square and round pizzas, made with a light and airy crust. I had the Fiore Teglia (square) pizza and added a side of their truffle cream sauce. So colorful, so good! I can’t wait to go back!

On Swann

Focusing on seasonal New American cuisine prepared in an open-concept kitchen, On Swann is one of the cutest restaurants in Hyde Park, perfect for date night or drinks with friends, and features a wide ranging menu. On Swann is a great option for groups, whether you go for lunch or dinner. This restaurant focuses on offering local and small-batch ingredients — and beer — to make delicious comfort-food-adjacent meals. Overall, the restaurant was comfortable, featuring a farmhouse inspired design.

Meat Market

Meat Market is a vibrant restaurant in Hyde Park, offering a menu beyond the strictly carnivorous, as the name might suggest. This is a great date night spot, but even better as a weekend outing after walking around the Village. There is plenty of outdoor seating on their spacious patio, and a great indoor-outdoor bar that creates delicious cocktails and offers a good mix of wines and even a couple craft beers.

Of course, Meat Market offers delicious steaks, with various enhancements like black truffle butter or blue crab. However, for a pescatarian like myself, there are always great options for me to choose between. When Brett and I met a couple friend of ours there, I had the seabass with truffle mash, and loved every bit of it. Next time, I plan to try the Scottish salmon with red wine cherry butter. The roasted cauliflower appetizer, as a side note, is a great sharable plate, as is the lobster mac n cheese (pictured above); cannot recommend them enough!

The restaurant fills up quickly, so reservations are recommended. It’s a dressier option, especially in the evenings, so plan accordingly.
