About Anecdote Candles

Anecdote Candles is based out of Brooklyn, New York. Their candles are designed to be conversation pieces, highlighting common experiences and cultural trends that bring people together. The candles themselves are made with cruelty free materials, comprising of a coconut-soy wax blend, cotton wicks, and a phthalate-free fragrance. There are no additives or preservatives, either, and Anecdote sources their materials domestically. The coconut-soy wax burns cleanly and evenly, offering a robust but not overpowering scent.

Trying Out the Candles

The Homebody candle caught my eye, first because of the theme, and, second, because of the scent. Bergamot and tea…the best!

Anyway, the candle celebrates staying in as “the new going out” and offers a calming and comforting scent. An alternative anecdote for this scent was “couch time and planned excuses,” which also suits the vibe. Overall, a nice affirmation that having a quiet night on the couch with the cats was the right idea!

As for the aroma, it definitely has a distinct tea scent to it without being overpowering or cloying. It does make me crave a nice cup of tea every time I burn it, I have to say, which is probably part of the point.

Anecdote Candles’ Sizes & Pricing

While the scent I opted for is currently only available in a glass jar, but the candles also come in tins and, in some cases, a larger tumbler. The glass jar seems to be Anecdote Candles’ standard size, and it burns for between 40 and 50 hours. The tin is a smaller option, burning for between 25 and 35 hours. The tumbler, not he the hand, has a burn time of between 60 and 70 hours.

The candles range from $14 to $34. You can even take a fun quiz on their site to find your perfect candle! Overall, the scents are strong but not overpowering, and I’ve found that the burn time has been impressive so far. Great for gifts or a little treat for yourself.
