Trader Joe’s Skincare Line: Affordable Moisturizers and More

Trader Joe’s has some great products. I mean…cookie butter…need I say more? Anyway, based on their general selection, really it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Trader Joe’s skincare line is pretty great, too. In fact, they carry enough products to basically swap your entire routine for Trader Joe’s skincare products!

So far, I haven’t tried too many of the their skincare items, but the ones I have tried I’ve loved. One of the best parts, though, is that everything is so affordable!

I tried two moisturizers — one body butter and one facial moisturizer — and am pretty impressed by the feel and price point. The Pumpkin Body Butter is a steal at about $5 a tub, while the Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer is a mere $9, a great price for a moisturizer of this style. So far, so good!

Pumpkin Body Butter

I love a good body butter. Regardless of the season, I’m always open to new, rich moisturizers. This body butter really checks all my boxes — it’s rich without being sticky, the tub is a great size and easy to scoop from, and it has a nice scent. This was a seasonal scent, but they usually carry an equally highly-regarded coconut scented version year-round.

As far as the scent goes, I think it’s pretty great. It smells like what it says it does and doesn’t have the sticky sweet scent of some pumpkin spice products. The best part about this seasonal scent is that it’s not overwhelming. It’s subtle, but not so mild that you’d have to really ponder what it’s supposed to be.

The texture of this body butter is said to rival the Body Shop, and I think the comparison is spot on. It has the whipped texture with a fantastic price point. I highly recommend grabbing a tub or two of these while they’re still available!

Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer

Unlike the Pumpkin Body Butter, the Trader Joe’s Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer is a facial product, as opposed to an all-over-moisturizer. This is, of the products I’ve tried, the absolute best Trader Joe’s skincare product.

I picked this product up after trying a bit of a friend’s. I was immediately struck by how similar it felt to the Youth to the People Superfood Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer, another favorite of mine. The Trader Joe’s gel moisturizer has green tea and aloe, two great ingredients for pretty much all skin types, and dries cleanly.

Overall, I’m really impressed with it. And I’m certainly not the only person with that opinion. The only negative I’ve really found on the product is a critique on the packaging.

While the Youth to the People option has hyaluronic acid and the Trader Joe’s skincare option doesn’t, the latter costs $9 as opposed to about $50. While I still plan to purchase the Youth to the People option, this Trader Joe’s dupe is great for a more all-over moisturizer.

I’m excited to incorporate it into my nightly skincare routine as a moisturizer for my neck and chest. The water-based hydration is really gentle on the skin, and works great with my sensitive skin. If you’re looking for an affordable and light moisturizer for sensitive skin, the Trader Joe’s Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer is a great option!
